A day in her shoes....

On Wednesday May 4th, a wonderful event for an important cause took place in the Market Square Artium. A Day In Her Shoes supporting the Saint John Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association was yet again a huge hit for all those involved! Here's a recap of the night!

The evening began with a wine and appetizer mingle with fabulous food made available by Market Square's restaurants including the Saint John Ale House, Grannan's and Lemongrass. During this time, guests of the event were able to bid on the many silent auction items displayed on numerous tables. We were thrilled with the bidding response which brought in over $3500+ dollars for the CMHA!

While the mingling was taking place, our models were prepping for the catwalk back stage! The big show was ready to begin!

Each model showcased 2 shoe styles that they felt best reflected their personalities. The women all looked fabulous and most importantly, confident, as the MC described what each woman does in her life to stay balanced, happy and feel fulfilled.

The evening finished with a moving speech from award-winning TV journalist, Valerie Pringle. Valerie explained how her 30-year-old daughter, Catherine, had been suffering from anxiety and panic disorder since she was a child. She described for the audience how the diagnosis didn't come until much later in life and how they have learned over the years to deal with and overcome the obstacles caused by the condition. Her speech was heartfelt and positioned in a way to ensure that the audience walked away with a more clear understanding of how much a person can suffer from anxiety, depression and other disorders if they don't get the help, assistance and support they need. It was an eye-opening address that certainly made everyone in attendance realize how important organizations like the CMHA are for assisting those in need in our community with their programs and support services.

We're already looking forward and counting down the days until next year's event! It was a great evening out filled with delicious food, fun & colourful Spring footwear fashions and an uplifting speech - all benefiting our local chapter of the CMHA! We'd like to thank all of our many customers who attended the event, you made the evening a wonderful success!
